Congratulations! 10 year anniversary is a huge milestone. I'm super happy for you. I remember my ten year UA-cam anniversary back in July 2012 (technically I joined in March 2006 but I didn't make videos so I don't count that), it was an amazing feeling. Hopefully I'm still around in July 2032 for my 20 year and hopefully you're still around in June 2034 for your 20 year special. Nice to meet another person who's been here for ages, making music just for the fun of it. I gotta admit, I miss old UA-cam but I'm thankful for the friends and experience I have now.

I am former clarinet player waaaay in middle school)… and just from hearing you play an A’ (clarion above the staff). I was able to play an A. Just relaxin’and playing what I heard helped out a lot. That exercise is practical. Thank you Cally. Keep it up.

You have the most beautiful centered tone, its so rich and singing. I not only stand when I practice, I wind up playing and walking around and I always bang into something like a table or a door knob. This is a very informative video. I think next time I'm practicing I'll crazy glue my shoes to the floor.

Hi Cally! I love this video, I have a college audition coming up super soon. Do you have any advice about determining where to breathe during an excerpt? I’d rather not cut notes short in a lyrical passage, but what if there seems to be no good place to take a breath? Sorry if this isn’t really related to the video, but I figured I might as well ask. Thanks for this video. In the first movement, I think the subito fortes and pianos are very important, especially the first two bars to show you know the difference between when you are tutti and when you are solo. In the second movement, I definitely agree with you that the subdivision is essential. I like to phrase to the second to last note in each of the first three groups at letter D. Having heard this on audition committees several times, I would advise paying special attention to the rests in this excerpt- an underlying sense of pulse is essential, and these rests are often ignored- too long or too short. Additionally, a little time in measure 76 is traditional and often expected (conductor and bass section permitting of course), and the trill can be an expressive one (starting slowly and spinning out) which makes much more of an artistic impression. In the third movement, I would also add that the final descending arpeggio should be played with as much crescendo as possible due to the lower range or you will be covered up by the strings. Such a beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing!

Excuse me for a question, when playing, should the lower lip stay on the teeth or should it be in the direction of the teeth?

I recently picked up the clarinet for the first time in over 20 years to incorporate it into my current music. It's coming back pretty quick, except for hitting those super high notes lol. Really digging your channel!

Nicely done!!! So many moving parts to consider beyond just playing the notes. You changed notes into music! Thank you! I think I had that nifty mouthpiece cap back in 1966, but it is long gone. I put blue tape on my black cap to find it!! I still have the LUYBEN ligature as a backup if needed. All the best!
